- To what extent did I choose an issue that I genuinely care about? When it came to choosing a topic I struggled to find what I was interested in and so I came to the final decision of climate change and human rights. The reason I chose this topic was because I had no idea what the human rights aspect was in climate change. After researching the topic for a while it became a topic where it didn't affect me personally but it did affect everyone in the world. Finding out that a lot of the climate change debate doesn't focus on the human rights aspect by not seeing what those specific human rights are.
- How does my proposal align with my own strengths, interests, especially in light of what I'm thinking about doing for my action project for Senior Project? With my proposal revolving around the community and how I could get involved through climate change and human rights. It shows my interest of wanting to be more connected to others and being able to express my ideas. A lot is not being done besides big strikes on the issue but even this doesn't say a lot to the world or the community.
- What did I learn from this process that will help me with my senior project? The big one would obviously be the research aspect of it. I definitely learned to become a better researcher and to be able to take the most important parts out of each source. I learned if you really want to impact someone that it takes a lot of affirmative action to do so. Such as creating solutions to the problem that is at hand and I learned how I could approach my action project through the ideas I had presented to me. Either by creating some sort of art form that expresses my idea or by crating a giant protest/strikes with other people that think its matter.
- What was the most valuable/informative/interesting part of this assignment? I liked how this helped me to get prepared for my senior project through finding valuable sources on the internet to writing 700 page papers to mentally and physically preparing us for senior project. I liked the overall choosing of our own topic and it had to be something that was happening in todays world or something that has been happening for a long time. I liked how every student for their topic had to find some sort of solution to it. By using their own ideas to see if they had a big enough voice to say something about it. I think it was a cool way to show that the youth have a voice and need to be heard so makes it more impactful.
- What is one thing I could have done to improve this project the most? I think it would be interesting when we pick our justice topic it would have to be random. I think using a globe of the world and spinning it and where ever you land you have to focus on what injustices are happening in that certain area. Might work maybe not but I thought it would be fun.
