Reflection
For the rhetoric and ideology project, I decided to work with a partner and create a podcast on gun control and the background of gun control. The end resulted in a four-minute podcast that we put time and effort. Throughout this whole project and learning about of politics and figuring out what I agree in and what I don't agree in. It has been a bizarre journey learning everything, but I feel like my perspective has not changed very much at all I still think the same about politics through the whole rhetoric and ideology unit it awesome to see how in our world how humans use rhetoric to convince others in different ways. I understand that a lot of people care about their values. I now appreciate that there is some balance with everything we have learned. I know that the other side has things to say about the other hand. To not judge and throw out stereotypes with one another. With democracy, there is so much work put into it — the way the government performs for the right and wrong I have learned that people care about who should be the president due to what he or she has to offer to the people. I think I learned that with democracy you have to see both sides and try to understand both sides. Both teams have at least something they both agree on. Also trying to communicate in a way where the other parties do not get hurt when talking to someone who believes in something completely different from you. Honestly, I feel like I have gained a lot of knowledge in how we make decisions in this world through democracy using the ways of rhetoric. I've always had never been interested in politics because I know that I can't do anything about it. So I try not to care so much about what's going on in the world. With this project ever since we started it and getting into politics, I feel like I've come to notice that I'm on the liberal side. Based on what I believe and what’s right for me. Everything a left-leaning liberal believes in such as equality for others and support for social justice. Such as those stereotypes for liberals I think they're right, but from this project, I've learned that all of them are wrong and there are liberals out there that don't have to be happy loving and caring about the environment. I think it's very important to learn about politics and see what people really care about in this world and people try not to talk about politics because they don't want to get involved. Overall I didn't really like learning about politics probably because I’m only a teenager and still learning more about the world. It was good to learn about especially early in life, so I know What things are needed in our democracy to be successful. I guess with Rogerian argument and how it could play in a democratic society can be. Using Rogerian argument in solving problems by talking about differences. Some people's arguments are based on beliefs and emotion. Everyone holds differences and tells us who we are and how we think, such as topics like abortion, gun control, animal experimentation and more. I think it's essential to make claims and to support your ideas but in a democracy when politics are arguing about what they have to offer in their state or country. They present their topic, and the other side might disagree, but he is convincing the people. They have opinions and state facts, but they understand each other under any circumstance in their position. With valid convincing and they clearly state facts with context and are highly persuasive while listening to the other person.
